Shawn E. Channell, PhD, ABPP

Dr. Shawn Channell is a forensic psychologist with primary expertise in the areas of competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and dangerousness. Dr. Channell earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology at West Virginia University, and his master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Western Michigan University. He is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
Dr. Channell has worked for the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, for 11 years, with prior employment at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota, the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, California, and the Federal Correctional Institution in Waseca, Minnesota. He currently practices as a Forensics Unit Psychologist at the Federal Medical Center in Devens, Massachusetts.
In addition to his duties as a forensic psychologist, Dr. Channell is also involved in hostage negotiation and supervision of predoctoral interns. He regularly testifies in federal criminal and civil commitment proceedings.
