Harriet Berman, PhD
Harriet Berman is a licensed clinical psychologist who has practiced in the Greater Boston area for over 30 years. Dr. Berman received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Yeshiva University in 1983. She has worked as a staff psychologist at several sites in Boston serving women, children and families, and has been in private practice in the Greater Boston area since 1984. She served on the core faculty of MSPP from 1988 – 2002.
Dr. Berman became the Executive Vice President for Clinical Programs at The Wellness Community – Greater Boston (TWC-GB) in 2002. TWC-GB provided free support, stress management and educational services to people with cancer and their families. In this capacity, she oversaw programming and supervised the clinical staff at four sites in the Greater Boston area. She developed an internship in psycho-social oncology at TWC-GB. Serving as Chair of the National Program Council of TWC – National, she was involved in reviewing program standards and innovations for the organization, and represented TWC through presentations at national and international meetings. As a part of the initial team that launched the Virtual Wellness Community, she has expertise in the delivery of psycho-social services through the internet and helped develop a supervision and consultation model for those programs. TWC-GB closed in January, 2009. Dr. Berman continues her work with the cancer community through a newly formed organization, Facing Cancer Together.
